Yoon Joo Choi, Piano

Yoon Joo Choi is a dedicated pianist and doctoral candidate (D.M.A.) at Stony Brook
University, specializing in performance and musicology. A native of South Korea, Ms.
Choi established a strong artistic foundation through her intensive, long-term piano
studies there before completing
her Master’s degree at the Manhattan School of Music. Active in both performance and
pedagogy, she currently serves as a Teaching Assistant at Stony Brook, engaging in
student instruction and mentorship. Her performances have been featured in major venues
across Korea and the United States, showcasing her commitment to diverse collaborative
projects, including her work as an accompanist for the vocal studio, as well as solo
repertoire. Most recently, she was selected as a fellowship pianist for the 2024 Aspen
Music Festival. Her current research interests explore the intersection of formal
discipline and subjective expression in 19th-century piano literature, a topic central
to her work at Stony Brook.
