Ji Hae Yun, Piano
Born in South Korea, Ji Hae Yun graduated with both a Bachelor’s and a Master’s degree in Piano Performance from Dongduk Women’s University. Her Master’s thesis was titled “A Study on R. Schumann’s Humoreske, Op. 20.” In 2014, she attended the International Music Festival in Casalmaggiore, Italy, and a Piano Master Class in Katowice, Poland, where she met Kum Sing Lee. Following this, she studied with Kum Sing Lee at the Vancouver Academy of Music, completing a four-year Artist Diploma. She also participated in the D.E.P.A. program with Jean Saulnier at the Université de Montréal, Canada.
In 2022, she moved to Florida to pursue a second Master’s degree at the University of South Florida under Professor Svetozar Ivanov. A highlight of her studies at USF was being a member of the Rebecca Penneys Chamber Collectives, where she expanded her chamber music repertoire.
In the summer of 2023, she traveled to Europe for music festivals. In Northern Ireland, she received the Culture Ireland Award for the best performance of the commissioned Irish piece Saint Francis by Elaine Agnew. In Italy, she was awarded the Rutenberg Series Award with her piano trio, comprised of participants from the Brancaleoni Music Festival. As a result, the trio was invited to perform as guest artists at the Steinway Piano Series/Rutenberg Chamber Series in Tampa in 2024. Upon graduating from USF, she was honored with the Exemplary Student Award.
In 2024, she was accepted into Christina Dahl’s studio at Stony Brook University, where she currently serves as Head Piano TA.
