Andrew Coleman, Clarinet

Andrew Coleman, an American clarinetist stationed in Stony Brook, NY, studied with Cassandra Hibbard at Liberty University during his undergraduate degree and with Jan Halloran in his master's at Boston Conservatory. He is currently working towards a DMA in clarinet performance at Stony Brook University under the guidance of Alan Kay. In 2022, Andrew competed for and secured a spot in a masterclass hosted by Yao Guang Zhai during the International Clarinet Association event in 2022. Andrew was also recognized as one of the three winners in the Liberty University Symphony Orchestra’s concerto competition in the Spring of 2023, and he performed Françaix’s Concerto for Clarinet and Orchestra. In collaboration with Prague Summer Nights, Andrew played principal clarinet in the orchestra and opera pit during a tour of the Czech Republic. Additionally, Andrew organized the reed quintet Q5 in the Fall of 2023 which performed a concert entitled “Emerging Artists” in collaboration with the Boston Museum of Fine Arts. He has also been on the substitute list for the Portland Symphony Orchestra since Fall 2024 for auxiliary instruments, including Eb and Bass Clarinet.
