Stony Brook University Incubators are located at the Research & Development Park in the AERTC and CEWIT, East Campus at LIHTI, West Campus at the BioTech Center, and eastern Long Island at the Calverton Business Park. Each incubator offers the support needed to be successful by offering workshops, assistance in business development and reaching benchmarks, camaraderie of other businesses growing within the incubators, mentorship from more established start-ups, labs to do research and professional space to hold meetings.

The Stony Brook Incubator Program offers startups and young companies more than 100,000sf of rental space, or “virtual” participation in non-resident programs, across a technology spectrum from advanced materials and biotechnology (wet labs as small as 250sf) to cleantech, software and IT hardware, and innovations too new to name. The program includes entrée to a billion dollars’ worth of technology- and sector-focused programs and specialized facilities, access to the University’s exceptional faculty and student talent and assistance in securing early stage financing. These resources include the New York State Centers of Excellence in Wireless and Information Technology (CEWIT) and the Advanced Energy Resource and Technology Center (AERTC) and Centers for Advanced Technology in the Center for Biotechnology and the Center for Integrated Electric Energy Solutions (CIEES), the Strategic Partnership for Industrial Resurgence (SPIR), and the NYS Small Business Development Center (SBDC), all on campus or in the Stony Brook R&D Park. The Long Island High Technology Incubator (LIHTI), Long Island’s first, has been named the nation’s leading mixed technology incubator by the International Business Innovation Association, the incubator trade group; 55% of its graduates are still in business, a 5.5X increase over the typical success rate for startup companies. The Calverton Food Business Incubator houses over 40 start-up food companies who utilize facilities which include shared kitchen space, storage facilities and start-up business assistance.

“As a resident start-up company, CEWIT is not only a physical space providing the lab and office, but also the single funnel connecting to the talented developers, partners and customers. As the inspiring advisor, Yacov Shamash and Satya Sharma guide us to move up to the next level.”
