Community of Student Mentors Program

Overview

The Community of Student Mentors (CSM) Program is designed to create one-on-one peer mentoring relationships between Center for Inclusive Education scholars. This program is open to graduate scholars in all disciplines and provides the opportunity to expand their support system.

Whether you’re a seasoned graduate student or an ambitious first-year, this is your chance to join a vibrant mentoring community that prioritizes judgement-free support and mutual success. We accept both mentors and mentees.

In this program, advanced CIE scholars are thoughtfully paired with more junior CIE scholars who share similar goals, experiences, and academic interests. As a mentor or mentee, you'll have the opportunity to build a meaningful one-on-one connection and support one another throughout your academic journeys.

Apply to the CSM!

Applications for the Fall 2025-Spring 2026 year are open until September 12th, 2025.

FAQs

  • How much do mentors receive in coffee funds? Each mentor receives $50 per semester on a Wolfie Wallet card to support coffee during mentoring meetings. Postdoc and alumni participants will receive an alternate incentive for participation.

Program requirements

Scholars participating in the CSM program are required to:

  • Have at least one mentoring meeting per month. These one-on-one meetings between mentors and mentees are used to discuss experiences and milestones in their academic and personal lives.
  • Submit a short meetinglog after each meeting. In these short logs (3 minutes), mentors and mentees can document successes, challenges, and concerns. The log entries are private and only accessible to CSM staff. The information in the logs are private unless there is a question of emotional/personal safety, at which time the CIE may share the information with the appropriate offices on campus.
