The Ph.D. Program in Science Education at Stony Brook offers a rigorous program of
graduate study emphasizing core knowledge from the traditional field of Science Education
as well as the emerging fields of Discipline-Based Educational Research (DBER) and
the Learning Sciences.
From the very beginning we handpicked our faculty from among the brightest minds in
their fields. Nothing has changed. But we must find new ways to stay competitive in
hiring and supporting exceptional teachers and scholars.
