The President of Stony Brook University oversees an internationally recognized public research institution and center of academic excellence designated as a flagship university and ranked as the number one public university in New York State.
As chief executive, the president also oversees Stony Brook Medicine, Long Island’s premier academic medical center, which encompasses five health sciences schools, four hospitals, and 200 community-based healthcare settings.

Stony Brook University President Andrea Goldsmith led a cross-campus town hall discussion on October 21, the first of a series of events designed to discuss and design a shared vision for Stony Brook’s future.
“Shaping Stony Brook’s future together is an exciting undertaking since we are a university of infinite possibilities,” said Goldsmith.
President's Office Hours
President Andrea Goldsmith is holding office hours to set aside time to meet with Stony Brook University students. These office hours are an ideal opportunity for students to meet with President Goldsmith to share their thoughts and discuss a variety of subjects about the University.
Office Hours are now open for Fall 2025.
