Marketing Committee
WHAT IS MARKETING?
Marketing at OLLI promotes the OLLI program through print and electronic media and by conducting local events with the goals of providing information and increasing membership.
The Marketing Committee contributes to the development of marketing strategies and the implementation of marketing activities/events to spread awareness and understanding of the OLLI program. The committee reviews and contributes to the development of marketing materials, consistent with the guidelines of Stony Brook University. The committee works to develop relationships within the University and with outside agencies, as appropriate. The committee promotes a diverse and engaged membership that is characterized by mutual respect and collaboration among members and with the OLLI staff.
GOALS OF THE MARKETING COMMITTEE:
- Communication
● Work with the OLLI office to develop procedures and timelines for committee events and the development of materials for distribution.
● OLLI office collaboration with the Marketing and Communications Department for guidance around University protocol and approval for OLLI marketing initiatives. - Member Recruitment
● Maintain a list of potential members (from the website and from specific events).
● Reach out to potential members to provide ongoing information about OLLI activities. - Community Outreach
● Identify and communicate with organizations/programs around conducting recruitment events, such as libraries, 55+ communities, etc.
● Distribute approved marketing materials in communities during scheduled events. - Marketing Materials
● Contribute to the development and distribution of printed and electronic marketing materials such as: brochures, flyers, event invitations, etc.
● All materials must conform to University guidelines, the use of approved logos and other University branding, and be submitted to the OLLI office for review and approval. - Planning
● Review/establish committee purposes/goals at the beginning of each semester.
● Consider the use of feedback forms about activities.
● Consider feedback from personal interactions and/or surveys, and recommendations from the OEC to identify other opportunities for growing membership.
● Collect and analyze member recruitment data to evaluate the effectiveness of recruitment activities and plan accordingly.
● Review accomplishments at the end of each semester and identify goals for the next semester.
