LEARNING OBJECTIVES
1. Upon completion of the degree, students should be able to think scientifically
and be familiar with the concepts, laws, and mathematical methods of introductory
physics; computation, optics, and thermal physics.
2. Upon completion of the degree, students should be familiar with the tenets of astronomy,
extending to stars and radiation, galaxies, cosmology, and astrophysics.
3. Upon completion of the degree, students should be familiar with at least two additional
areas including planetary science, relativity, astronomical instrumentation and data
handling, faculty-supervised independent research and reading.
4. Upon completion of the degree, students should have developed communication skills
for the presentation of scientific results.
5. Upon completion of the degree, students should, in the program with Honors, have
gained additional experience in independently researching and writing on a topic in
astronomy/planetary sciences.
