Prof. Bernauer is on a joint position at SBU with the Riken BNL Research Center. His research focus is on precision measurements. His group is currently involved in experiments at MAMI, CERN and DESY, in MUSE @ PSI, sPHENIX at BNL and DarkLight at JLAB.

• The experiments in Mainz, at CERN and MUSE@PSI are focused on precision proton form factor measurements to illuminate the proton radius puzzle.
• TPEX@DESY is a planned experiment for precision measurements of the two photon exchange in elastic lepton nucleon scattering.
• DarkLight is a dark matter search focused on a proposed 17 MeV force carrier in the dark sector.
• For sPHENIX and BNL, Prof. Bernauer's research group is involved in the design of streaming readout electronics.
