Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant - Clinical Instructor
Required Qualifications
Physician Assistant: NYS license and certification as a Physician assistant. Bachelor's
degree from an accredited school of Physician Assistants.
Nurse Practitioner: NYS license and certification as a Nurse Practitioner. Master's
degree in Nursing or completion of a course for Nurse Practitioner.
Preferred Qualifications
At least one year clinical experience working as a Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner.
Experience working in the following clinical areas: surgery, emergency medicine, critical
care and intensive care. Experience working in a Stony Brook Medicine outpatient
setting.
Responsibilities & Requirements
Responsible for patient care, as well as teaching medical students, residents, fellows,
as well as students from other healthcare professions. This position serves as a
health care professional who, under the direction and supervision of a licensed physician,
provides health care to patients.
Duties include:
- Perform clinical evaluations of patients which may involve histories, physical examinations
and laboratory testing.
- Perform diagnostic and therapeutic procedures.
- Counsel and advise patients and families.
- Responsible for the education of patients and their families, as well as the general
public.
Special Notes
This is a non-tenure track position. FLSA Exempt position, not eligible for the overtime
provisions of the FLSA. Internal and external search to occur simultaneously. Anticipated Start Date: As soon as possible.
