Nurse Practitioner - Clinical Instructor

Required Qualifications

  • NYS license or eligible for NYS license, and certification as a Nurse Practitioner.
  • Master's degree in Nursing or completion of a course for Nurse Practitioner.
  • Minimum of two years experience in Obstetrics & Gynecology.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Understanding of working with complicated pregnancies (Maternal Fetal Medicine)
  • Excellent organizational skills.
  • Familiarity with basic genetics and prenatal diagnosis screening tests.
  • Some experience in Labor and Delivery unit.
  • Experience with an Electronic Medical Record system.

Responsibilities & Requirements

The selected candidate will be responsible for patient care and for assisting with the education of medical students, residents, and Maternal Fetal Medicine fellows.  This position serves as a health care professional who, under the direction and supervision of the Maternal Fetal Medicine physicians will provide health care to patients. 

Duties include:

  • Perform history and physical exams, order appropriate diagnostic and screening tests, develop pre- and post-treatment/operative plans of care, intervene in acute episodes, write medication and nursing care orders, and perform minor procedures. 
  • Work collaboratively with multidisciplinary team of Physicians, Genetic Counselors, and other Clinical Nurse specialists.
  • Basic genetic counseling.
  • Education of patients and their families in order to promote wellness, improve and maintain current health as well as intervene in acute and chronic Maternal Fetal Medicine issues.
  • Participation in Departmental research activities.

Special Notes

This is a non-tenure track position.  FLSA Exempt position, not eligible for the overtime provisions of the FLSA.  Internal and external search to occur simultaneously.  Anticipated Start Date: As soon as possible.
