Responsibilities & Requirements The Department of Surgery is seeking a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant who
will work with physicians and nurses in the practice to provide medical treatment
plans for patients. The NP/PA will document patient history, perform physical examinations
and make assessments and diagnose based on this information, as well as, initiate,
review and revise treatment plans and record and present data in a manner meaningful
to the supervising physicians. Assists physicians with interventional treatments,
respond to incoming phone messages from patient and make call backs to patient reporting
response to attending physicians. Makes referrals to other healthcare providers and/or
consults the physicians for further definitive therapy, orders and evaluates appropriate
non-invasive diagnostic tests and procedures. Instructs and counsels patients on
health care, health maintenance, medical problems, treatment plans, nutrition or other
related issues as appropriate. Ongoing clinical follow up with post op patients including
phone calls and clinic visits. Collaborate with members of the multidisciplinary
team to help develop and implement patient plan of care. Assist with ongoing research
projects including IRB training, obtaining consents and data collection.
Special Notes This is a non-tenure track position. FLSA Exempt position, not eligible for the overtime
provisions of the FLSA. Internal and external search to occur simultaneously. Anticipated Start Date: April 2, 2018. Will consider new graduates. Four day work week available. Availability
for some early evening and possible Saturday hours is helpful.
