Two Openings for Forest Ecologists 
  • Positions open for June 13-28 2026, Apply by November 15 2025.
  • Instructor in Environmental Science - Matthiessen Scholar Program is looking for someone who possesses a graduate degree or is in the advanced stages of a graduate degree.
  • - The majority of the Instructor’s role will be teaching topics in environmental science and mentoring students in research. This involves one-on-one instruction for students, and it also includes giving talks, setting up labs, and generating lessons for the full group of Matthiessen students as needed. The Instructor will be expected to live at the field camp and work closely with the Director and GMF staff to ensure that facilities are used appropriately, programmatic goals are met, and the pastoral responsibilities of caring for adolescents in a residential setting are fulfilled. Finally, the Instructor is responsible for balancing safety with Program goals, such that students are pushed and challenged academically in the Program’s natural setting, but always within the bounds of best practices in a wilderness environment.
  • Resident Assistant - Environmental Science - Matthiessen Scholar Program is eligible for an undergraduate or someone with a BA.
  • - The Resident Assistant will monitor all aspects of the student experience while at the Yale Camp. The Resident Assistant will be charged with checking in students at night, monitoring study hall, and ensuring students are going to bed at a reasonable time. The Resident Assistant will also work with the cook to help arrange packed meals for excursions and will generally enforce and maintain a sense of order in camp life. The Resident Assistant will also accompany the group on most excursions and outdoor lessons and will help monitor student safety in a wilderness setting.

  • JOB SUMMARY:The Environmental Studies and Sciences department at Adelphi University invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor and University Sustainability Officer beginning in Fall of 2026. We seek an environmental scholar with a strong commitment to teaching undergraduate and graduate students from a variety of backgrounds and experiences, an active geospatial science research agenda, and a practical understanding of environmental policy. The ideal candidate will be someone who can lead a successful research group involving undergraduate and graduate students in any area of environmental studies and sciences.
