2026 Graduate Highlight Story

David Safo - Finance

The College of Business proudly celebrates the remarkable accomplishments of David Safo, who graduated Magna Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Science in Business Management, specializing in Finance with a minor in Real Estate & Insurance.

David’s academic record reflects a student who consistently strove for excellence. He completed the Business Honors Program and presented his research at URECA, Stony Brook University’s annual celebration of undergraduate research and creative activity — demonstrating the kind of intellectual rigor and curiosity that has defined his time at Stony Brook.

His contributions to the College of Business community were recognized at the highest level. David received the CoB Dean’s Choice Award and the CoB Service Award, and was selected as the CoB Convocation Student Speaker for the Class of 2026 — an honor reserved for the student who best exemplifies the values, growth, and promise of their graduating class. He was also named a recipient of the 2026 Provost’s Award for Academic Excellence, one of only 20 students university-wide to receive this distinction. As a CoB Peer Mentor, he also invested in the success of his fellow students, offering guidance and support to those just beginning their college journey. His work extended further through his role in the Dean of Students Office, where he contributed to the broader Stony Brook community with the same dedication he brought to everything he pursued.

David’s campus involvement was nothing short of remarkable. He was an active member of the American Marketing Association, the Black Student Union, the Badminton Club, the Investment Club, and Model United Nations. As a Senator in the Undergraduate Student Government, he represented his peers at the institutional level — advocating, leading, and serving with distinction.

We are proud of all that David has accomplished and look forward to the impact he will make in the world of business.
