FAQ

• What can be inscribed on the bricks?

  Legacy Way is a means of commemorating your experience and association with Stony Brook University. 

  Actual bricks can't have more than 20 letters per line, with a maximum of 3 lines per brick. Any character found on a standard keyboard can be used. Spaces are considered a character.

  Inscriptions shall not include commercial messages or company names. Discriminatory or inappropriate messages that refer to an individual’s or group’s sex, race, color, religious creed, national origin, age, or physical disability shall not be permitted. All messages are subject to University approval.

• Can I just buy a replica?

  Unfortunately, due to vendor limitations, we can only include replica pavers as part of a paver purchase. If you choose to combine your order, we'll ensure that your replica undergoes a thorough inspection before shipping, and we'll provide you with tracking details.

  For your convenience, the replica will be sent via standard mail. If you have any specific shipping requests, please don't hesitate to contact our donor relations team at donor_relations@stonybrook.edu.

• When will my brick be installed?

  Due to increased demand, there will now be two Legacy Way brick installations each year. The spring installation will take place prior to commencement, and the summer installation will occur prior to the start of the academic year.
  
  To have your brick included in the summer installation, please submit your order by June 27. 

  If you miss the June 27 deadline, we will install your paver in the spring. The waiting period is necessary to accommodate the various steps involved in ordering, preparing, shipping, inspecting, and installing the bricks.

  We will notify you about your installation once it is complete. If you have any questions, please feel free to email donor_relations@stonybrook.edu.

• Who can purchase a brick?

   Any current students, alumni, faculty, staff, or friends of Stony Brook University.

• I would like to purchase multiple pavers for installation.

  We’re thrilled that you want to! Please note that the webpage is set up to ensure the accuracy of each brick’s inscription, which means you can only order one paver at a time. You will need to submit a new order for each paver you wish to buy.
