Bin Zhang joined CEWIT as the Associate Director of Computing Services in 2009. Bin Zhang received his M.S. degree in Management and Policy from State University of New York at Stony Brook (Stony Brook University) in 1993 and his M.S. degree in Mechanical Engineering from Stony Brook University in 1990. He has more than 20 years of experience in information technology. He joined as a Lead Programmer Analyst in the University Hospital and Medical Center (UHMC) at Stony Brook University in 1996 and was promoted to Senior Programmer Analyst in the UHMC at Stony Brook University the year after. He was the Supervising Programmer Analyst for the Center of Visual Computing (CVC) in the Computer Science Department at Stony Brook University from 1999 to 2009.
During his tenure at Stony Brook University, Bin received the Chancellor's Award for Excellence in Professional Service and the President's Award for Excellence in Professional Service in 2009. He was selected twice as Twenty Top Techies by Long Island Software and Technology Network in 2005 and 2008. He was also recipient of several Meritorious Service Awards from Computer Science Department at Stony Brook University. He has written several technical publications in Computer Science and Mechanical Engineering.
