Research Overview
CEWIT’s goal is to become a world-wide leader in the advanced research of wireless and information technologies, commercializing cutting edge innovations, and creating new industrial enterprises. Our research focus covers Wireless Networking and Traffic Management, Effective Bandwidth Utilization, Pervasive and High-speed Computing, Radio and Digital Communication, 3-D Visualization, Ad-hoc Networks, Digital Signal Processing, Cyber Security, Wireless Reality, Computer Vision, Networks, Virtual Reality, Computer Vision, Bioinformatics, Expressive Networks, Data Mining and Computational Neuroscience to name only a few areas of interest. Our interdisciplinary studies, many of them supported by federal or state funding agencies, range across the broad spectrum of wireless and information needs: from intelligence and mobile networks to defenses against potential threats to the country's critical information infrastructure, mobile code security, and automated adaptive intrusion response. CEWIT not only emphasizes leading edge scientific and technological challenges, but is also building a cooperative industry R&D network. The goal is to have corporate researchers work side by side with Stony Brook’s faculty and students to perfect potentially marketable new technologies. Guided by these successful partnerships, our R&D programs will culminate in technology transfer, job growth, and economic development.
