The key to the CEWIT’s research achievements is developing successful relationships with affiliated institutions and centers. Sharing resources, research interests, and ideas contributes to exciting technological advances. Some of these affiliations result from successful grants, as in the case of Center for Dynamic Data Analytics (CDDA), and some are a natural extension of our Department, as with SUNY Korea.
Advanced Energy Research and Technology Center (AERTC)
The Advanced Energy Center is a true partnership of Academic institutions, Research institutions, Energy providers and Industrial Corporations. Its mission is innovative energy research, education and technology deployment with a focus on efficiency, conservation, renewable energy, and nanotechnology applications for new and novel sources of energy.
Center for Dynamic Data Analytics (CDDA)
CDDA is a National Science Foundation (NSF) sponsored Industry and University Cooperative Research Program (I/UCRC) established between Stony Brook University and Rutgers University. The Center focuses on data sets that are massive, dynamic, complex and multidimensional, or what is commonly known as Big Data, to discover, develop and apply data analytics solutions to industry problems such that the chaotic data is transformed into knowledge and industry products.
Founding of CEWIT Korea is the fruition of high-tech exchange and cooperation of both Korea and the US. This center is certain to spur the studies on commercialization of the mutual supplementation and integration of the strengths of CEWIT Research Center at Stony Brook University in the US and the strengths of Korea.
Empire State Development’s Division of Science, Technology and Innovation (NYSTAR) mission is to accelerate the growth of New York State’s high-tech economy. NYSTAR’s programs are designed to enable new and existing businesses to become more competitive through the use of innovative technologies, and emphasize the importance of working with industry to leverage the state’s technology strengths to produce new products and, therein, new and expanded jobs in the state. Through funded programs which support world-class technology research at colleges and universities, NYSTAR works to promote a robust network of industry-university partnerships throughout the state. Its support of Regional Technology Development Centers provides direct technology assistance to small and medium size manufacturers and other businesses.
The New York State Center for Advanced Technology in Diagnostic Tools and Sensor Systems at Stony Brook University provides intellectual, logistical, and material resources for the development of new product technologies - by facilitating R&D partnerships between New York companies with an in-state footprint and university researchers. The important outcomes are new jobs, new patents, training of students in company product matters, and improved competitiveness for New York State businesses.
SUNY Korea opened its doors in March 2012 as the first American university established on Korean soil. It is also the first university to join the Songdo Global University Campus (SGUC).
