Rong Zhao is Director of Software Systems Division of CEWIT and a faculty member of Department of Computer Science at Stony Brook University. His research interests include information retrieval and management, data mining and visualization, user interface and human computer interaction, user-centric software engineering, Web technologies, and wireless/mobile application development. Dr. Zhao has published his research findings in major journals and conferences and co-authored chapters in several books. At CEWIT, he oversees the Software Systems Division which focuses on the development and commercialization of cutting-edge wireless/mobile computing and other software technologies. He is also the computer science coordinator of the New York State Strategic Partnership for Industrial Resurgence (SPIR) program. Collaborating with local industry through SPIR and CEWIT, he and his students have developed many patent-pending, award-winning software applications. He holds a Ph.D. degree in computer science from Wayne State University and a B.E. degree in computer science and technology from Tsinghua University in China.
