About the Office of Research Security
The Office of Research Security supports researchers in international engagement and global activities. The four main areas of importance are:
(1) Disclosure of external relationships in accordance with applicable federal sponsor guidance and SBU policy.
(2) Protection of intellectual property, research data, and materials (cybersecurity, physical security, and review of international relationships and high-risk activities).
(3) International engagements, identification and mitigation of potential undue foreign influence when engaging in international research activities.
(4) Export Control Laws, a broad body of federal regulations that regulate the transfer (in any manner) of controlled information and items.

Request a Review of an Activity
Do you have a specific activity that you would like to have reviewed (e.g., shipment, collaboration, visitor, travel, external professional appointment, purchase)? If so, submit a Research Security Review Request and a professional from the Office of Research Security will review and provide a summary of the review, recommendations, red-flags, and/or any other approvals (campus, sponsor and/or U.S. government) that may be required for the activity.
